Apricot tart: a sweet treat
If you like to bake, the apricot tart is a particularly nice task: As is customary in France, it is baked upside down so that the fruit and the caramelized sugar form a crispy and fresh liaison. Warning: the following recipe contains peach liquor. If children are also eating, you can simply use peach juice instead. For about ten pieces of cake you will need the following ingredients:
300 g puff pastry (frozen) 100 g sugar 30 g cold, salted butter (torn into flakes) 600 g apricots (ripe) 12 lemon balm or lemon verbena leaves 250 g sour cream 3 tablespoons peach liqueur or peach juice 1 teaspoon maple syrup Also: tarte-tatin form (25 cm diameter)
Cake upside down: this is how the recipe works
Lift the puff pastry sheets side by side onto a large platter and let them thaw for about ten minutes. Meanwhile, you can preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Now, according to the recipe from the magazine “Living at Home”, melt 80 grams of sugar in a saucepan until it caramelizes.
Tip: The sugar burns less easily on a low flame. Now add the butter and stir in. Pour this mixture into a tarte-tatin baking pan and distribute it evenly. Next, prepare the apricots: wash and stone the fruit. Then distribute the fruit in the mold with the cut side up. Then sprinkle them with about 20 grams of sugar.
This is how the apricot tart is made
Stack the defrosted puff pastry sheets and roll them out in a round shape – the diameter should be slightly larger than the shape. Now carefully place the dough over the fruit, fold it inwards at the edge and press it firmly. Pierce the dough lid in several places with a fork so that it does not rise too much in the oven. Now bake the tart for about 30 minutes on the middle rack – by the end of the baking time the dough should be golden brown.

The steep coastal road stretches for more than 50 kilometers from Meta di Sorrento to Vietri sul Mare and leads close to the rocks along the coast through the Campania region. Here, pastel-colored, medieval towns cling to steep cliffs. It goes through Mediterranean landscapes with green hills and lemon groves – the Gulf of Salerno always in view. Those who long for heat, solitude and adventure will get their money’s worth on the 3,100-kilometer Stuart Highway. The road connects the Australian city of Darwin with Adelaide and runs from south to north through the middle of the Australian outback. Boulders, dust and red rocks are constant companions. In between you can see kangaroos, camels and emus crossing the street. If you are unlucky, the planes of the flying doctors land on it. Individual sections of the highway are marked as emergency landing strips. We recommend making a detour to the legendary Ayers Rock and Lake Hart in the desert city of Alice Springs. Also worth seeing are the sandstone Kings Canyon in Watarrka National Park and Kakadu National Park in the north.
3. Icefields Parkway, Canada

Deep blue lakes, glaciers, endless expanses, forests and rivers – the Icefield Parkway combines Canada’s natural beauties in just one trip over 232 kilometers. Route 93 begins right after the small village of Lake Louise. It leads past highlights such as the Columbia Icefield, the largest accumulation of ice south of the Arctic Circle, and the Athabasca Falls, a 23-meter waterfall. With a little luck you will see black bears and moose. The end of the journey is the mountain village of Jasper, which is surrounded by towering peaks and shimmering green lakes. 4. Quiraing Road, Scotland

The Quiraing Road leads around 70 kilometers across the Scottish Isle of Skye – perhaps the most fascinating area in Great Britain. Created by landslides thousands of years ago, you will find hills here that seemingly flow down the cliffs and a valley that expands almost infinitely and finally flows into the ocean. The beginning of this road can be found in Portree, from where you drive up the steep cliffs along the east coast towards Staffin. Visitors can enjoy the best view of the area at the Quiraing Viewpoint, from where several hiking trails lead into the hilly landscape.
5. The Atlantic Road, Norway

The eight bridges meander between islands, islets and skerries and lead from Bud in the west to Kristiansund in the east. In between, the structures connect road sections that are anchored in the rock of the coastal landscape. The highlight: to the left and right of the bridges, the waves break on the bridge piers and cast a spell on daring drivers, especially in autumn.

One of the most beautiful European coastal roads leads along the Côte d’Albâtre through French Normandy. The approximately 130-kilometer stretch of coastline of the Alabaster Coast begins in Le Havre at the mouth of the Seine and runs northeast to past Le Tréport. In addition to roaring waves and salty lips, you can enjoy the view of gleaming white alabaster rocks on the winding road. A highlight of the route is Dieppe: The oldest seaside resort on the coast inspires with magnificent facades and a dreamy harbor.
7. Ring of Kerry, Ireland

Wild Atlantic beaches, rugged cliffs and moorland form the backdrop of the Ring of Kerry in Ireland’s southwest. The lively Killarney is the ideal starting point for the round trip. From there it goes on to Killorglin, where once a year a goat is crowned king. Other highlights on the circuit: Rossbeigh Beach, Ballycarbery Castle (attention: access blocked in April 2018) in Cahersiveen and Derrynane House – a mansion with a beautiful property.

On the road along the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, vacationers see miles of beaches against blue lagoons, ancient forests and vineyards. You can taste fine wines in numerous wineries around Stellenbosch. At the Cape of Good Hope, visitors can enjoy a kilometer-wide view of the ocean. A stop in the small surfing town of Muizenberg and the coastal town of Hermanus is also recommended. The latter is known for being able to spot whales in the bay from land. "The heart of the Garden Route, however, is the section between Mossel Bay and Plettenberg Bay, where the landscape is one of the most beautiful" says Tim Holzapfel from Travelzoo.
9. Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road, Austria

The journey from Hochgurgl in Austria via the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road to Merano in South Tyrol promises 60 turns of luck. The north-south connection leads through the Ötztal glacier world up to an altitude of 2,600 meters. Here your gaze remains on the glaciated Hochfirst. Then you drive downhill again, past meadows, ancient farms and the South Tyrolean vineyards. The pass is usually open from late May to late October. In 2018 the Traumstrasse celebrates its 50th anniversary.
