Winter Waterland A BLAST Arts in Education Project Rosedale School November–December 2025 BLAST – Bringing Live Arts to Schools and Teachers Department of Education and Youth Over six weeks, musician Emma Lohan collaborated with Rosedale School music teacher Elvie Miller, students, teachers and support staff to create an immersive sensory artwork called Winter Waterland. The project began with workshops exploring the sounds and movement of water.Students experimented with instruments, audio-mixing equipment and a hydrophone – a microphone that records underwater sound. Together they imagined and designed an interactive sound sculpture inspired by winter water. In the next phase, more classes joined the process to build the installation in a dedicated room in the school. Students helped shape the space, layering textures, objects and sound to create a living soundscape. In the final phase, the room became Winter Waterland – a place for exploration, imagination and sensory play. Students moved through the space listening, touching and interacting with A collaborative artwork created by the whole Rosedale School community. BLAST at Rosedale School Winter 2025
