Rosedale School celebrated 1916 centenary with the raising of the national flag outside the school on Tuesday 15th March 2016. Our St. Patricks Day celebrations and ceilí followed in Lakeview Hall. We had a visit from personnel in the local barracks in Renmore also.

The Rosedale Girls Day has been running successfully for the past number of years. The Training Room each year is transformed into a beauty emporium for all the girls. We also extend invites to our past students in Four Seasons and to the Aishling Centre. A wide variety of beauty treatments including a hair dressing and styling section, manicures and hand massages, pedicures and foot-spas are enjoyed by the students. With many brightly coloured nails and glamourous hair styles the students leave very happy. We have soft music playing in the background supplied by volunteers from a local school. Due to the kind generosity of parents and friends donating gift sets and beauty products each girl takes one set home at the end of the day. Refreshments of drinks and valentine cupcakes and chocolates are also enjoyed on the day. A great time is had by each student and staff every year.

The Rosedale Boys Club meet up every year in Lakeview Hall. It is a great day for the club. All the latest toys and gadgets are tried out!. Lakeview Hall is transformed it into an arena for go-carting, radio-controlled cars. trucks and tractors. We fly choppers, and shoot some Nerf targets. We play with farms, trains and Hot-Wheels. It is a great opportunity to interact in a playful situation with all the students from other classes.

We are constantly collecting old mobile phones. Irish Autism Action run a mobile phone exchange scheme where we swap these phones for ipads and mini ipads. Ipads are a great resource for the students in our school. Please send in any unused mobiles to the school-feel free to spread the word to your neighbours and friends-it’s amazing how many unused phones people find when they go spring cleaning!!

Musicians from all walks of life have visited Rosedale School to help us celebrate St. Patrick’s Day
The Ceilí Mór takes place in the halla -Lakeview Hall. It is a very lively event where everyone appreciates the live music- Students dance to Shoe the Donkey, The Stack of Barley and the Siege of Ennis amongst other dances
Staff have even been known to perform the Brush Dance.

Halloween is a fun time of the year. Every class makes a huge effort and dresses up in costume. We all gather together as a school and parade around the school grounds and onto the Dublin Road. We get a lot of appreciation from cars passing by. The students really enjoy it
We then gather in Lakeview Hall and a variety of activities are set up in the hall, like making ghosts and pumpkins from salt dough, pin the tail on the witch, etc.
This year we had musicians from Coláiste Na Coiribe play some traditional Irish music in the background. It was a very enjoyable event for all involved.

A Fun Day is organized at the end of every school year.
Last year it was related to the football World Cup in Brazil.
Every classroom represented a country who was playing in the World Cup competition. There was great excitement coming up to the events-preparations included familiarizing the students with a world cup song and dance for their country, flags and banners were made in art classes and the team kit was decided upon-looking the part was very important!
On the day a parade took place in the playground-each team lined up in order and performed their routine to the music of their country. We paraded for a short distance outside the school along the main road-it was a hugely colourful event we received lots of cheers from passers-by.
The competitions began and there was great rivalry between the classes! A variety of sporting events suited to our students took place-the main event involved an adapted football game-the games were organized on a league basis. The final involved the students and staff from Little Oaks who were representing France, playing against the students and staff from Rainbows End who were representing Brazil. France won out (although somewhat controversially according to members of the Brazilian team!!)
Having fun was the main focus of the day and this was certainly achieved.
